Rock Climbing in North Carolina

After Merlefest, Autumn and I headed to the mountains of western North Carolina for some rock climbing @ Looking Glass Rock.  This monolith is just outside the small town of Brevard, several miles into the Blue Ridge mountains.  It is an easy place to spend a few days camping for free at night, and climbing all day long.  For a climber, the area offers every level of difficulty, from single pitch routes to multiple pitch routes up to 500 feet long.  We have been fortunate to be able to climb here quite a bit, over many trips to North Carolina.

After climbing we went to Asheville for a couple of days.  This small city is a great place to hang out, eat, shop, drink craft beer, and see live music.  The community has a fairly hardcore "buy local" ethic that helps give everything a superb quality.  Great food, great art, great shops, great music.  It has become one of our favorite places to be.  And the climate, especially for the southeast, is awesome.  While we were here Autumn got a new store account. http://onsclothing.com/  Check them out.
